Depression and Mental Health Screening for Teens

As we enter National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month, the importance of recognizing and addressing teen mental health issues cannot be overstated. Adolescence is a crucial period of growth and development, but it can also be a time of heightened stress and vulnerability. To shed light on this critical issue, we at Mindful Healing are taking significant steps to support the mental health of teens in our community through specialized screenings and services.

What is National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month?

National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month, observed every October, serves as a reminder of the pressing need to prioritize mental health. It's a time for communities, healthcare providers, and organizations like Mindful Healing to come together and raise awareness about the prevalence of mental health conditions among teens and young adults.

At Mindful Healing, our mission has always been to ensure that teens and young adults in our community are safe, healthy, and happy. We understand the unique challenges that this age group faces and are committed to providing them with the necessary support and skills to navigate life successfully.

What do Mindful Healing’s Comprehensive Teen Mental Health Screenings Look Like?

As part of our dedication to teen mental health, we offer specialized screenings. These screenings are designed to provide valuable insights into a teen's emotional well-being and help parents and guardians understand how best to support them. Here's what participants can expect:

  • Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Screening: Our assessments help identify whether external stressors or internal factors are affecting a teen's mood and emotional well-being.

  • Emotion-Regulation Screening: This assessment explores areas where teens may need to develop distress tolerance and emotional regulation skills, offering guidance on whether therapy may be beneficial.

  • Strengths and Stressors Screening: By identifying areas of resiliency and pinpointing stressors in various life domains, this screening helps families focus their support and resources where they are needed most.

After completing the screenings, participants will have the opportunity to discuss the results with one of our experienced therapists. This follow-up session, scheduled about a week later, plays a crucial role in providing recommendations for further support and services.

Together, we can ensure that our community's youth are safe, healthy, and happy, not just this October but every day.
