What Does an ADHD Assessment Include?

October is ADHD Awareness Month, and we at Mindful Healing are reaching out to parents who have noticed the signs and symptoms of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. If you’ve ever wondered whether ADHD might be part of your teen’s story, you’re not alone. We believe seeking answers is an act of courage and self-awareness. That’s why our ADHD assessments are designed to be comprehensive, trauma-informed, and deeply affirming.

First things first: our process is not about labeling. It’s about understanding. ADHD doesn’t look the same in everyone. For some, it’s racing thoughts, difficulty focusing, and forgetfulness. For others, it’s emotional intensity, time blindness, or burnout from masking. Our job is to help you or your child make sense of the full picture—not just the parts that stand out.

Here’s what our assessment includes:

  • A pre-appointment survey is conducted prior to the evaluation appointment. A psycho-social evaluation contributes to the overall assessment. The survey includes a behavioral observations assessments for parents, teachers, and other professionals to complete. You’ll complete a thorough family history that contributes information relevant to your teen’s life and makeup

  • The appointment and evaluation consists of three components:

    • A clinical interview

    • Questionnaires

    • Cognitive testing

  • We provide you with a written report within one week of the evaluation that outlines your teens results and ADHD profile. A licensed and certified ADHD professional will review the results with you to provide valuable insights and our individualized treatment plan and recommendations.

Our ADHD assessments are about more than a diagnosis. They’re about reclaiming your teen’s story—with clarity, compassion, and care.
